Core Communication Skills – The Essential Skills for Successful Workplace Relationships

Effective communication requires a set of core communication skills that are vital to every aspect of successful workplace performance: leading, coaching and motivating employees, working with customers, collaborating with co-workers and resolving conflicts. The complexity of today’s global workforce requires that communication skills be more flexible, yet focused and disciplined as well.

Successful communication depends on an in-depth understanding of our mindsets, which operate like “master programs,” which drive our thinking habits. These habits drive employee communication and filter perceptions which form the basis of decision-making and interactions with others. Every single workplace interaction is an opportunity to either build or stress relationships.

Mindsets conditioned by unconscious learning can result in unproductive performance patterns. They tend to keep us in the comfort zone of the familiar and resistant to change.

The Core Communication Program focuses on the understanding of our core “mindsets” and how to change them.

The Core Communication Program is comprised of five modules:

Communicating with Conscious Awareness

  • Changing Beliefs, Changing Behaviors
  • Listening for Understanding; Aligning to Build Trust
  • Body Language Awareness
  • The Basics of Emotional Intelligence and its Role in Communication Choices
  • The benefits of this Program include:

  • Achieving a greater understanding of personal mindset and its behavioral results
  • New tools to strengthen interpersonal understanding and relationships
  • Greater awareness and skill in using body language to demonstrate understanding and build rapport intentionally
  • This program is designed as a 1 and 2 Day program but can be adapted to half-day sessions. While both formats offer opportunities for skills practice, the 2 Day Program offers advanced learning and skills practice

    All levels of the organization can benefit from this program; however the program can be tailored to address specific needs and experience. Participants use their real work-life issues – to learn and practice the framework of this program.
